The Cottages at Bethany

If you are ready for a “maintenance-free” and move-in ready living opportunity within steps of an entire Community of Care, then Independent Living at The Cottages at Bethany, is the answer to your quandary. In 2019, the Board of Trustees by faith embarked on yet another quest to meet the Mission to “Serve” in the expansion of the continuum of care by the provision of Independent Living on the same campus as the Assisted Living Community of Care provided through The Lodge at Bethany. Phase I of the decision to expand into Independent Living was completed in November of 2019 and since that time, the nine (9) Cottages that were completed have been blessed to have full occupancy. Phase II has since been completed, offering an additional fourteen (14) Cottage homes. Each Cottage is a single-story, handicapped accessible 1205-1300 square foot residence, and provides all-inclusive pricing to give the Residents the independence they choose and the assurance that any needs for future assistance will be on the same campus.

Our spacious Cottage floor plan combines elegance and comfort in a setting of the lush landscaped Community of Care on the Bethany campus, creating a neighborhood of friends and the safety of family. Every Cottage includes the following amenities:

Combination locks on the Front entry door provide security and access in the event of an emergency. These combinations are kept by the Resident and provided to Emergency Services (911) in the event access is needed.

Security cameras are included in the flood lights (that provide light and security footage stored for 30 days/motion detected). The camera recordation is tied into the Office for The Cottages to secure this information for a period of 30 days.

Each Cottage has its own Security System with motion and door access detection that will trigger an emergency call to the Police/Fire as needed, if needed.

Rocking Chairs at all Cottages are Included!

Special Features such as Coffered Ceilings in the Den, masterful extensive trim and molding throughout

Insulation: All Electric Energy (including cooking and hot water heaters) and the spray foam insulation in attic and in walls provides additional efficiency

Appliances-Stainless Steel appliances are included in all Cottages and full-size Washer/Dryer is included-full size laundry with cabinet storage

Kitchen Islands: Included in all Cottages and special features of convenience such as the double trash cans that are built in as well as the electrical outlets in the islands for electrical access

Window Treatments: Plantation Shutters are provided and NO other Window Treatments are needed (or allowed) to take that burden off of the Residents and to maintain uniformity.

Garage: approximately 400 square foot garage (1 ½ car sized) allows for easy access in and out of vehicle and provides an area for additional storage in the garage. Attic above the garage area accessible by staircase. Garage Door access provided for added security.

Additional Parking Spots in the back of the Cottages for guests or second occupancy vehicle

Master Bedroom: Large enough to accommodate a King-sized bed and other furniture

Master Bathroom: Zero entry shower access with a bench and large Linen Closet. Handicapped railings are provided for additional safety

Master Closet: Great storage area

Flex Room/Second Bedroom: Closet area is a good size and the sized room can easily accommodate any size bed, but particularly a queen/full sized bed is ideal

Second Full Bathroom: Has a tub and a shower, with storage in cabinetry and handicapped railing


Internet access is wireless and/or Ethernet cable and is provided through Vyve-internet Ethernet is provided in each area of the Cottage;

Television cable access with a Basic Deluxe package through Vyve is included-the Den and each bedroom is wired in two separate locations in each room for television access to provide flexibility on where you place the televisions;

Phone Service: Landline access is allowed via a cable connection through Vyve. Transfer of phone numbers from other providers is allowed or a new number will be assigned.


Maintenance inside and out by the operations staff of The Lodge at Bethany

Trash pickup on a weekly basis by the City of Statesboro and Operations Director manages the Carts back and to on pickup day to avoid any possibility of injury to Resident

Pest Control services provided monthly inside and outside if desired by the Resident

HelpAlert/LifeAlert Pendant System that is tied into Emergency 911 is included


The Bethany Community of Care~Initial Community Fee is paid at the time of entry into The Cottages and does not have to be repaid upon entry into The Lodge, if and when that takes place

The Bethany Community of Care includes access to all of the amenities of The Lodge:

- Priority of Admission: Since The Lodge has reached its capacity, with a waiting list, priority of admission in the event of need is a premier advantage for Residents of The Cottages.

- Wellness Center (free of charge, recumbent bicycles, treadmill, weights, bands, chair exercise class 3/week.

- Dining ($12/meal ala carte/just call and make a reservation)

- Social/Activities (free of charge as available to the Residents of TLAB)


- Community Fee of $3500: One-time fee paid by every individual that comes into The Community. A separate fee does not have to be paid upon entry into The Lodge, if and when that becomes necessary or desired.

- One Check pays all Monthly Rental: This is the monthly fee that is paid by The Resident for the use of The Cottage and is all-inclusive with the exception of the ala carte options as outlined herein and any Rental Insurance that the Resident chooses to acquire on their own to cover personal property items.

The Community Commons Building

We are pleased to announce the construction of a beautiful 4,000 square foot building in the midst of Phase II of The Cottages; The Community Commons Building. Designed and built to meet a need for those in Independent Living to have a place to engage and interact with other Residents of the Bethany Community as well as the Community of Statesboro and surrounding counties as a whole.

The collaborative work of an exceptional design and construction team, including Greg McKenzie Builders of Vidalia, Georgia (who also completed the original nine Cottages of Phase I and now has completed the fourteen additional Cottages of Phase II) represents the effort to bring a common space for the individuals that live on the Bethany campus as well as other visitors who may come to our campus and enjoy the benefits and opportunities for support and engagement targeted towards Seniors.
