Finally, the opportunity to socialize and visit with individuals within The Lodge on a daily basis or as desired represents a benefit to all of the Residents, allowing everyone to contribute to the true giving of oneself in service to others.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We have listed out some of our most frequently asked questions!

What makes Assisted Living at The Lodge at Bethany any different from Personal Care Homes located in the Statesboro community?

The Lodge at Bethany is the only Community, either an Assisted Living Community (ALC) or Personal Care Home (PCH) that has one full-time Registered Nurse (RN), who also serves as the Administrator of The Lodge, and two additional full-time Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), working together with our Residents and their Families to bring the highest quality of healthcare available to Seniors.

The Lodge at Bethany is the first and only community in Statesboro licensed as an Assisted Living Community (ALC) under Georgia law. This important designation offers Residents the ability to live in place in an environment that will allow the staff members to assist the Residents for a longer period of time in the pleasant home-like atmosphere of The Lodge.

Can The Lodge provide assistance with the administration of medications? Is that any different from a Personal Care Home?

As an ALC, The Lodge at Bethany is authorized and required to have staff who are Certified Medication Aides (CMA) and/or licensed nurses who can actually administer medications unlike the staff of a Personal Care Home that is only allowed to assist in the administration of medications unless there is a trained Proxy Caregiver authorized by the Residents or their Representatives to do so. The Administration of Medication is so important and unlike most ALCs and PCHs, this safety advantage is included within the price and is not an additional charge levied on the Resident and/or their Family.

Are there any other advantages to The Lodge over other Communities in Statesboro and the surrounding area?

As a not for profit, faith-based, 501(c)(3) organization, The Lodge at Bethany has a number of advantages, including the fact that the organization has such a rich and proven history with over 100 years of Mission and Service to the Residents and Families that have and will continue to be served. The Lodge is distinctly certified and licensed in accordance with the Life Safety Code requirements of an Assisted Living Community to have staff that can assist with self-preservation in the event of an emergency, a term that describes a person’s mobility and ability to ambulate to a point of safety in the event of an emergency, which allows the Resident to live within The Lodge longer than in a Personal Care Home.

Does The Lodge accept Medicare and/or Medicaid to assist in the payment for the services provided?

Medicare does not offer any benefits for the provision of Assisted Living or Personal Care Home services at this time (and never has). Additionally, the services provided for those who meet the difficult eligibility criteria for Medicaid programs in Assisted Living or Personal Care Home services are limited in the amount that will be paid and in the services that are covered by Medicaid. For these reasons, the cost for the provision of services at The Lodge will not be paid by Medicare or Medicaid (and this is true of most Assisted Living and Personal Care Homes in this area).

Are there other available financial aid provisions that might assist in the payment for The Lodge?

Payment for The Lodge is generally payable from three sources: Private pay from the resources of the individual and/or their family; benefits available under a Long Term Care Policy, which generally will pay towards the services provided by an Assisted Living Community such as The Lodge; and Veteran’s Administration benefits for those who meet the qualifications that are intended and designed to help veterans and their surviving spouses who require a caregiver to assist with activities of daily living, including bathing and dressing.
